Originally, BetterPilots was designed to be a fun side project to explore current technologies to serve a pilot population that was asking for a higher standard of education.

   After recently being unfortunately exposed to what can only be described as 'a masterclass on how to do things wrong' the demand for help has become overwhelming. What has been an enjoyable hobby has now evolved into a much larger organization to provide desperately needed resources to commercial aviation operations, Flight Training Units wishing to evolve beyond their current expertise and technology limits, and most significantly, the pilots who are frustrated by what are obviously antiquated and/or exploitive systems designed to give them the bare minimum at the maximum cost. 

   My name is Todd, and I'm the originator and owner of BetterPilots. I have been privileged to have flown thousands of hours in airline, cargo, and high performance corporate aircraft, but most importantly I've trained over 4000 pilots; they range from new recreational pilots to ATPL rated pilots that are employed across the globe in some of the most prestigious and/or challenging corners of professional aviation. I have offered offered introductory ground schools to secondary school kids, and designed and delivered internationally compliant courses to airlines.

   My quest to explore and perfect the craft of pilot instruction took me through the Transport Canada instructor system, to becoming a designated pilot examiner (over 1000 flight tests completed). I have achieved all levels of ICAO instructional and management certification (TIC 1, TIC2, TDC, TMC) and most recently obtained a masters degree in learning and technology (2019) where my capstone project was advanced research on pilot training interventions, the first of it's kind. I have studied from legacy instructors, worked with leaders in military aviation training, and I continue to be driven by the passion to understand then promote the most effective methodologies to equip pilots with the absolute premier knowledge, skills, and attitudes to lead the future of aviation. To this end, our products and services range from individual in aircraft/sim instruction or knowledge instruction sessions to enterprise level analytics or courseware design involving 3d animation and virtual/mixed reality modules. I have worked with thousands of professionals across aviation, management, and educational industries and drawing from the best, I've assembled a team of leading pilots, education specialist, organizational leadership and psychology specialists, and  instructional designers. The industry validation committee (IVC) we use to vet our products and concepts has amassed over 100,000 flight hours in nearly every conceivable type of flying. The full force of that experience and expertise is available to you whether you are a hopeful recreational pilot, or an established organization looking for senior consultation or critical outsourcing of design, implementation, or management.
